Three Writing Workshops / Tres Talleres Escritura

We are excited to announce three, concurrent, bilingual writing workshops presented by Mexico-based published authors Maricela Guerrero, Adalber Salas Hernández, and Isabel Zapata. Each writer-instructor offers a distinct opportunity for writers of all levels. Full descriptions for each workshop are available on this page, along with the registration link. Attendance is limited to ten students and the cost for the two-hour session is $25.

Lit & Luz at UIC with Eliana Hernández Pachón and Maricela Guerrero

UIC Latino Cultural Center—Lecture Center B2. 803 S Morgan St

Join UIC’s Center for Latinx Literature of the Americas as they welcome poet Maricela Guerrero from Lit & Luz’s 2023 Collaboration Cohort. Guerrero will be joined by poet and anthropologist, Eliana Hernández Pachón. This event will be a reading and conversation, moderated by UIC faculty member, Daniel Borzutzky. Author of nine poetry collections, Guerrero focuses on generating a critical vision about life, our relationship with nature, family, and everyday life. Guerrero’s El sueño de toda célula (Ediciones Antílope/Instituto Veracruzano de la Cultura, Mexico City, 2018) won the Clemencia Isaura Prize in 2018. Pachón’s first book, La mata (Laguna Libros/Cardumen, 2020), utilizes poetics to explore and document what it may have been like to experience the El Salgado massacre in Colombia.

Acompáñanos en el Center for Latinx Literature of the Americas de la UCI para darle la bienvenida a la poeta Maricela Guerrero del Grupo de Colaboración de Lit & Luz 2023. Guerrero se unirá a la poeta y antropóloga Eliana Hernández Pachón. Este evento será una lectura y conversación, moderada por Daniel Borzutzky, profesor de la UIC. Autora de nueve colecciones de poesía, Guerrero se enfoca en generar visiones críticas sobre la vida, nuestra relación con la naturaleza, la familia y el día a día. El sueño de toda célula (Ediciones Antílope/Instituto Veracruzano de la Cultura, 2018) de Guerrero ganó el Premio Clemencia Isaura en 2018. El primer libro de Pachón, La mata (Laguna Libros/Cardumen, 2020) utiliza la poética para explorar y documentar cómo pudo haber sido vivir la masacre de El Salgado en Colombia.
