Each Lit & Luz Festival takes place first in Chicago and then in Mexico City. For each “cycle” a committee of artists, writers, curators, art administrators, and professors select the Collaboration Cohort—a group of writers, visual artists, activists, musicians, dancers, and more—who are then paired off to work in collaboration on a new piece to debut at the Chicago Lit & Luz Live Magazine Show.
These talented individuals are offered the opportunity to travel to either Chicago or Mexico City to participate not only in the Live Show, but in individual events throughout the festival and to share their work with classes and communities.
