The Lit & Luz Festival’s signature program is the Live Magazine Show. Each year, the festival commissions new collaborative artworks between writers, visual artists, performers, and musicians from Chicago and Mexico, which debut at the show. The pieces are presented in both Spanish and English and include storytelling, music, poetry, video art, and performances that explore the relationship between languages, art forms, social issues, and cultures of the United States and Mexico through the theme “Edge/Borde". This year’s program includes remarks from Ambassador Reyna Torres Mendivil, Consul General of Mexico in Chicago, live music by Ana Everling, and the emcee stylings of Rocío Santos and Kamilah Foreman.

Please join us in the lobby after the program for a reception, along with a book signing courtesy of Time and a half Books.

Closed captioning and live audio translation in English to Spanish and Spanish to English, along with visual description will be available for this program via your smartphone and headphones. For any other considerations, please reach out to litluz@makemag.org.

Presented in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Museo Universitario del Chopo, Hyde Park Art Center, and National Museum of Mexican Art with support from The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, Poetry Foundation, a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, and more
