Jennifer Scappettone

Jennifer Scappettone works at the confluence of the literary, scholarly, visual, and performing arts. She is the author of five books of poetry, prose, translation, and cross-genre documentary work, as well as a range of chapbooks. Scappettone has collaborated with musicians, architects, and dancers to create counterhistories of sites ranging from Trajan’s aqueduct to the Quincy Copper Mine, and her visual poetry has been installed at venues ranging from the Kunstverein München to the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art. She teaches literature, creative writing, gender studies, and environmental humanities at the University of Chicago, where she founded and currently directs the Environmental Arts+Humanities Lab.

Jennifer Scappettone trabaja en la confluencia de las artes literarias, académicas, visuales y escénicas. Es autora de cinco libros de poesía, prosa, traducción y documentales multidisciplinares, además de varios librillos. Scappettone ha colaborado con músicos, arquitectos y bailarines para crear contranarrativas sonoras de lugares que van desde el acueducto de Trajano hasta la mina de cobre de Quincy. Su poesía visual se ha expuesto en espacios como la galería de arte Kunstverein München y el Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art.
